Masterclasses
National Association of Community Legal Centres and Community Legal Centres Queensland are excited to include a masterclass program as part of the national CLCs conference. We are offering four classes designed specifically for community legal centre staff. These masterclasses provide training and skills development in key sector areas of work.

Masterclass 1: Employment Law training
This masterclass upskills participants in key employment law areas including defining an employee, the sources of employment rights, bullying, discrimination and harassment, and unfair dismissal and general protections.

Masterclass 2: Consumer Credit Law training
This highly practical masterclass for generalist lawyers arms attendees with critical knowledge across a range of areas including relevant legislation, responsible lending requirements, credit contracts and consumer leases, default and hardship, dispute resolution and learnings from the Royal Commission. It will also feature innovative CLE in the credit and debt areas.

Masterclass 3: Brokering Better Partnerships
This workshop gives attendees an in-depth understanding of what it takes to partner effectively, including the critical success factors, building efficiency and excellence in multistakeholder collaboration, facing the challenges of partnering and adopting the ‘partnering brokering’ framework. The presenter has extensive experience in partnering and community engagement in Australia and overseas.

Masterclass 4: Trauma Informed Practice
This masterclass is co-presented by content experts in the field of trauma-informed practice, and legal service practitioners who have successfully lead the implementation of such practice into their organisation’s work.
This session will appeal to people also interested in the Conference presentation on building a Wellbeing and Resilience framework for your legal service, ensuring that the links between good trauma-informed practice and wellbeing for staff are made. With a focus on the practical application of trauma-informed principles into individual client practices, organisational approaches and leadership and governance strategies, this highly interactive Masterclass will give participants the tools necessary to approach implementation and embedding of trauma-informed practice into their legal service.
