NACLC urges key stakeholders to support UPR recommendations
NACLC recently sent an updated report (prepared with support from 64 NGOs across Australia) on Australia’s progress towards achieving the recommendations made by the UN Human Rights Council in the last Universal Periodic Review (UPR), to key stakeholders including many Federal MPs.
The report was accompanied by a letter which encouraged them to support Australia’s progress towards implementing the recommendations and helping to ensure that Australia meets its international human rights obligations before its 2015 review.
Australia will appear before the international community for its next review at the 23rd session of the UN Human Rights Council in 2015. Over 50 of the 145 recommendations made by the UN Human Rights Council have not yet been implemented.
