Stand up for Your Rights

Northern Rivers CLC’s focus on employment law specifically targets CALD communities and young people. They consulted with local youth on the best resources to assist in relation to their employment rights and on the basis of these consultations decided to produce a video.

With funding from NSW Law and Justice Foundation they produced a video to showcase young people speaking about their employment related experiences: Stand up for your rights. Local youth acted in and were involved in pre-production, including cinematography and sound.

The video aims to:

• increase young people's awareness of their rights at work
• increase their awareness of assistance services, and
• create greater access for young people to Northern Rivers CLC's services

In 2011 Northern Rivers CLC showcased the video to nine schools in their region where it was very well received. In 2012 the Northern Rivers CLC will continue to provide education sessions in local high schools to Year 10-12 students using the video as an education tool.
