Inner West Domestic Violence Proactive Support Service
Subtitle Challenges in using the law to respond to DV
Abstract

Integrated social welfare/criminal justice response to domestic violence in partnership with three NSW Police Local Area Commands from which we receive "yellow card" referrals for people experiencing DV (mostly women) and provide follow up support, information and referrals to them via the telephone, after doing safety and risk assessment and safety plan.

Typical referrals include DVCAS (court support), counselling, family law, Victims Compensation, other legal advice, financial support, refuges and accommodation. As part of this project we do a CLE twice a year entitled "Challenges in Using the Law to Respond to Domestic Violence"
