This DVD assists people to access advocacy and legal assistance from the Darwin Community Legal Service. It provides a pragmatic explanation aimed at Indigenous people and demystifies the process for gaining assistance. This DVD has proven popular with our remote clients and we hope to make it available in other Indigenous languages in the future. DCLS would welcome partnerships with other organisations to make this happen. |

Between a Rock and a Hard Place assists community workers to get the most out of the legal system for their clients. The publication covers many common legal areas that community workers encounter when managing their clients issues. There is a comprehensive and easy to understand manual and it is available online as a PDF. |

Footscray CLC has developed a DVD on the subject "What You Need to Know Before Buying or Building a House - For Refugee Communities." The Project was developed in response to a large number of home ownership scams affecting refugee communities in Melbourne's western suburbs (see Chapter 15 in FCLC's Report, Making it Home: Refugee Housing in Melbourne's West). The DVD is a resource for financial counsellors and settlement services to educate refugee communities on the basics around the decision to buy or build a house. Issues that are raised include:

The Illawarra Legal Centre wrote submissions, undertook advocacy work and developed educational resources on Fines and Work and Development Orders (WDO) outlining legislative and policy changes that reduce or eliminate fines debt and worked for improvements to these changes. The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sheets and wallet cards for young people are the basis of educational sessions and law reform work. Work and Development Orders (WDO) were a key feature of the changes to the Fines Act and at the heart of our lobbying and advocacy work. |

Education Portal is a companion website to the Law Handbook Online. The site is tailored to the needs of secondary and TAFE students and teachers and introduces students to the law, law reform and community activism. The site has four case studies examining legal change. Each case study consists of a role play, notes and lesson plans. The Education Portal also has a directory to the educational activities offered by community legal centres and government agencies. |

The EDO presents a range of community workshops on various aspects of environmental law. The workshops aim to inform the community about particular environmental laws and empower the community to use the law to protect the environment. |

The Grandparents, Grandchildren and Family Law project encourages grandparents to be confident and informed and to contribute positively to the care, welfare and development of their grandchildren, whether or not the parents of the children are separated or divorced. Focus groups and community information sessions were conducted with Melbourne's Greek Community. A Reference Group was established with industry experts (eg Victoria Legal Aid, CO-ASIT - Italian Agency, private practitioners, Aged Care Services - Moreland Council). The Law Handbook Online is a free online resource for the community to better understand their legal rights on over 90 common legal issues. The website is found at www.lawhandbook.org.au and it is easy to use, has search facilities and is written in plain English. The website also has links and contacts to all community legal centres and community and government services. |

This publication uses 7 realistic scenarios that a youth worker may be faced with to explore a rights-based decision making framework around issues such as offending, victims of crime, child protection, police, courts and education. |

This interactive game explores a range of common legal issues through a variation of the traditional bingo format. Players match picture squares to their playing sheet while the facilitator explains each one, giving examples of problems that could arise and services available (see example playing sheet attached). As with the traditional format, a player matching five squares in a row calls ‘Legal Lingo Bingo!’ and wins a small prize.
